Description
I enjoy working with a variety of media. Recently, I have been focusing on oil painting. I have been using images from the large number of photos I took while in New Mexico, an opportunity provided from a 2007 Lilly Creativity Grant.
Background
I have been teaching art for 33 years, K-8. I worked with the IN Dept. of Ed. ,in 1999, to write the State's Visual Art Standards. I received the Indiana Elem. Art Educator of the Year Award in 1999. I received a Lilly Teacher Creativity Grant in 2007. In May 2008, out of over 400 entries from across the US, my painting was one of 14 chosen by AARP to be on their 2009 Calendar. I was able to go to Washington D.C. to see the paintings on exhibit and then they were auctioned off, to support AARP. I graduated with a Bachelors and a Masters in Art Ed. from Ball State Univ.
