Indiana Public Radio is a service of Ball State University, a Public Radio International affiliate, and a National Public Radio member station. Its format includes NPR, news and classical music broadcast on WBST 92.1FM Muncie, WBSB 89.5FM Anderson, WBSW 90.9FM Marion, WBSJ 91.7FM Portland, and WBSH 91.1FM Hagerstown-New Castle. One of IPR's programs is "Indiana ArtsDesk," a weekly 10-minute feature broadcast every Thursday at 4:20 and 6:20 p.m. Hosted by Marcus Jackman, "Indiana ArtsDesk" is partially funded by grants from the Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County, and by the Indiana Arts Commission and Arts Place. Indiana Public Radio (IPR) is the most honored radio news organization in the state, receiving 30 awards from organizations like the Society for Professional Journalists, Network Indiana, Associated Press (Indiana chapter), and Radio & Television News Directors Association (RTNDA). Marcus Jackman received 6 of those awards for stories on "Indiana ArtsDesk." IPR has been serving east central Indiana for more than 40 years as your local source for NPR, news, and classical music. IPR has 501 (c) (3) tax status. Listener contributions are managed by the Ball State University Foundation.

    Indiana Public Radio, through its award-winning weekly program "Indiana ArtsDesk," gives the arts a voice, highlighting the rich and varied cultural landscape of east central Indiana for a public radio audience. "Indiana ArtsDesk" provides news about all disciplines through such devices as interviews and audio demonstrations. It informs listeners about upcoming arts-related events with a Community Arts Calendar. It strives to report stories that fairly reflect the broad geographic area that is reached by IPR's broadcast signal.
IPR's business hours are the same as Ball State University's: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except during the summer (May through early August) when the University's business hours change to 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All members of the IPR staff have voice mail messaging and electronic mail services. For individual staff members' direct telephone numbers and email addresses, call 800-646-1812. By contrast, IPR's broadcast operations are 24/7, 365 days a year.
Visitor Information
Visitors may tour IPR weekdays during business hours (8-5 p.m.; 7:30-4:30 p.m. in the summer). To make an appointment for a group tour, contact IPR at 800-646-1812. The station's main office is located on the Ball State campus, on the 2nd floor of the Ball Communication Building (Room 217) with studios on the ground floor. There are elevators making the 2nd floor accessible to the handcapped. Metered parking is available on campus; visitors may inquire about parking options when calling IPR. The station is closed to the public on weekends and holidays.
