Indiana Arts, Connecting you to a world of art
Knipe, Greg
Found Object Sculptor (View Portfolio)
indianapolis, IN 46280
As an artist, I strive to repurpose old and unwanted items into one-of-a-kind creations for the home and garden. Many of my inspirations are drawn from nature, but I am also influenced by vintage machine-works. I strive to give every piece an individual personality of its own, and a new life as decorative as its previous existance was functional.
I received a B.A. (English) from Marian College, and have taken welding classes from the Indianapolis Art Center, but am artistically self-taught. My previous hobbies included collecting and restoring old cars and motorcycles, as well as being active in my family's antiques business. These two passions of mine have been fused in my found object sculptures. I currently am the Studio Monitor for the IAC on Sundays from 12 - 3 pm.

Percy the penguin is constructed from an old refrigerant can, an oil can, lopping shears, garden hoes, and other found objects.
This cricket is made from an old floor jack and some shipping bolts.
I call this one "Seuss's Big-Footed Hornswoggle: a tribute to Dr. Seuss". It is made from a vintage horn bell, trowels, fence pieces, rake parts, allen wrenches, and miscellaneous other scrap bits.
