Indiana Arts, Connecting you to a world of art
Barnett, Amanda
Lafayette, IN 47904
I draw out the problems that society sweeps under the rug, to expose the tender underbelly of humanity. In particular, my work deals with women's suffrage, and the trials and tribulations they must face. I aim to hit people hard and hit them where it hurts, to help them realize the inherent problems with society. I seek to inspire, to educate, and to learn from my own work, and ask no more of anyone else than I would ask of myself.
Currently, I have only had high school art classes as my background, but hope to take on more classes at college. My portfolio won a 3 out of 5 at Princeton University. However, mostly due to the nature of my work, my pieces have not been received well by communities I have previously projected them onto. As for my poetry, however, I won second place in Purdue's annual writer's challenge.
