I sometimes find when I have finished a painting it inspires a poem either from the colors or mood of my soul. Not every piece achieves that but when they do merge together I feel a great sense of completion for that particular creation. Art is my passion as well as my inner growth and looking back I can see my life which also seems to wrap itself around others who are capable of feeling the emotions I have left upon the canvas or page. I also enjoy singing, composing songs either on 12 string guitar or piano. I currently have three music (more)

I love to tell stories. In any medium -- for me, the medium that I prefer is the medium that a story can best be told in.

In my collage-paintings, I produce surreal images which appear to be realistic landscapes. However, if you look at them they are impossible, such as a house made out of butterflies in the middle of a beautiful glade in a forest. I am currently working on figurative works, where the person is in a landscape which represents their situation, such as the Madonna walking through a field of flowers with the baby in her arms. All of the multiple images which surround her are collaged from photographs and also represent different times during her (more)

I draw out the problems that society sweeps under the rug, to expose the tender underbelly of humanity. In particular, my work deals with women's suffrage, and the trials and tribulations they must face. I aim to hit people hard and hit them where it hurts, to help them realize the inherent problems with society. I seek to inspire, to educate, and to learn from my own work, and ask no more of anyone else than I would ask of myself.

My art explores the elements of our world broken down to their most basic expressions – shape, color, and texture. Within my work, my goal is to communicate a peaceful balance between the seen and unseen energies of nature and humanity.

I have no limited style and look for inspiration in my surroundings and work mainly with watercolor's. More often than not inspiration finds me and not vice versa. I enjoy working with larger canvases most often working in 22x30 and larger works. By not limiting myself to one particular style I feel my emotion and feelings for the subject(s) are more easily expressed.

Inspiration comes from many sources. Many of the interests I currently hold I have had since I was young. I have always loved stories- folk tales, myths, fairy tales, and legends. Much of my inspiration is drawn from other artists I admire, such as the artists of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. I love animals, and have been around them all my life. Also, I have always had a fascination with medieval and renaissance Europe, especially England. These interests have led me to much research, and through research, I develop images in my mind (more)

I spend a lot of time doing research at libraries and interviews. I gather pictures and stories and then put them together in longer novels. I like to focus on the State of Indiana because that is where I live and can best represent accurately. I am currently working on my second manuscript while polishing up my first and working with my new literary agent.

Using Brecht's notion of didactic theater as a jumping off point, I'm casually searching for a theatrical form that will inspire the "cleansing awe" that David Mamet refers to as theatre's highest aim.

Both my short fiction and poetry usually stem from what is formally called 'speculative fiction' but is better known as science fiction and fantasy. However, all my work attempts to go deeper. I do not write about the future of science, I write about the affects of the future of science on our humanity. I do not write about fantasy and mythology, I use those devices to both tell a good tale and to highlight a piece of ourselves. I am a fan of straight forward ripping good yarns as well as deep, poignant messages.

In my writing I draw from a broad set of experiences while incorporating many of the understandings that i have adopted from my ongoing study of both eastern and western religions. In my younger days, having been to "battle stations missile" more than once while serving as a junion orricer on a U.S. fleet ballistic missile submarine, I feel compelled to look for alternatives and views that most writers might not otherwise consider. After a somewhat fulfilling business career, I moved back to my small Indiana hometown where i currently write (more)

I paint in oils and lean toward abstract expressionism in style with the feel of landscapes and/or gardens, and recently have begun making mixed media collages. I began my art adventure as a photographer and have done a form of photography I call "light paintings" -- these are cibachrome photograms which are entirely darkroom manipulation of sensitized paper. I also have been experimenting with digital photography and computer manipulation of images. In addition to visual arts, I have published works of fiction including short stories (more)
