As an artist and musician, I draw upon the interconnected rhythms of the natural world and human culture to engage and communicate. It is my hope that my work inspires harmony - an interactive metaphor of being in tune with oneself, our neighbors and the world we all share - through awareness, listening, hearing, understanding, and respect.

Everybody that knows me will tell you that I have been drawing and painting my whole life. Teaching myself the traditional skills of drawing from life, figure studies, portraits and painting with oil or acrylic on canvas and other media served to propel me forward to experiment with new techniques in watercolor, pastels and even airbrush. All of these illustrative skills prepared me for a future in graphic design & illustration.

I am a self-taught stained glass artist who has been working in this beautiful medium for the last ten years. I’ve created many of my own design patterns and use others that I find to be creatively inspirational. There is an emotional connection, a passion, for creating art in glass. I never put limits on anything I do. I use the copper foil method exclusively and insist on making a piece look 3-D. You will see free form designs more often in my work than a square frame. I like to see the detail and definition of the piece. The colors, (more)

I have been painting under the pseudonym, NORTHWOOD, since 1990, NORTHWOOD is a derivation of my family name, Nordholt. As the owner of an interior design firm, INTERIORS, INC., for twenty three years, and placing my work in both commercial and residential projects, I feel the art should speak first, letting the surrounding compliment the art, with rhythm and flow. I have studied informally with Megan Ueberroth and Michael Teague. The continuing exploration of studies as well as instinct and passion are the significant components in the (more)

I, in conjunction with my fellow designer, envision and sculpt objects of a fantastical nature tempered with recognizable historic elements in order to build a visual balance and scale that stimulates and inspires. I strive to achieve sculptures that make the imagination race and the heart flutter, though the viewer may not know why. My dream consciousness and world experience direct the details that manifest as subtle stylized components that complement and enhance the overall work.

“My interest in wood ranges from managing our classified hardwood forest through timber harvest and saw milling to proper lumber drying. Almost everything I make in my shop/studio was once growing leaves on our property. Having been involved with engineering most of my life, I enjoy the challenge of the design and procedure of every project. My current primary interests are Artistic turning and Early American furniture. I have studied and admired the turning design of the Greeks and Romans. My pieces tend to show elements that they (more)

My works range from large public pieces to small scale pieces, as well as from static to kinetic. I carry over many of my sculptural elements into the design and construction of furniture and contemporary lighting. In addition to sculpture and furniture design, I also focus in graphic design, architectural design, design consultation, ceramics, and photography.
