Doug Berky presents “No Show” for family concerts and a shorter version for educational concerts, Kindergarten to high school. Doug presents “Gems: The World’s Wisdom Stories” for elementary, middle and family audiences. This performance utilizes mask theater, storytelling, puppets, and physical comedy to tell traditional teaching tales from many cultures. Lecture/Demonstration, 6th-college, Doug presents an overview of the many styles of performance art included in his performances. He will discuss and demonstrate the styles of mime, the process of illusion, the use of masks in character development, and his use of the stage set and props. Doug will lead students in some exercises they can try at their seats. Workshops and Professional Trainings, 3rd-college students, Teachers, Doug provides workshops on mime, mask theater, and circus arts for upper elementary students to college. He provides workshops and residencies for drama students and teachers on mask design, construction
Doug Berky has been performing since the mid 1970’s. He has toured with groups such as “The Two Penny Circus” and the “The Montanaro Mime Theatre”. As a member of “The Montanaro Mime Theatre,” he appeared in the award winning children’s NBC television series, “See Saw,” and four television specials for Swedish National Television. In the early 1990’s Doug created a video series entitled, “Jesus Stories,” and “Light in the Darkness” with Ecufilm. Since the early 1980’s he has toured nationally and internationally with his one-man shows. Doug has been a featured performer at events such as the Eugene O’Neil Theater Cabaret Symposium and the fifty year celebration of the CROP walk for the National Council of Churches. He has performed and taught as Artist-in-residence at numerous schools and colleges including the Commedia School in Denmark, Roanoke College, Furman University, and the University of Wisconsin. His mask creations are in use in schools and theaters from Stockholm to Seatt

Performances range from $600 to $1,500 depending on audience and routing. Workshops range from $250 to $600 depending on length and whether they are scheduled with a performance.
