Indiana Arts, Connecting you to a world of art
Beatrice, Michelle
Metal And Fiber Artist. (View Portfolio)
Saint John, IN 46373
Natural plant and flower forms are a source of inspiration for my work. The exploration of color on metal became significant to my artwork when I became interested in enamel. Varying experimentation with translucent and opaque enamels on mesh and lightweight copper surfaces has led me to an exploration of nature in the form of metal and glass jewelry.
My formal training includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction, minor in Art History, from Purdue University, West Lafayette. There I studied metalsmithing and jewelry design with Robin Kraft. At Purdue, I served one year as Vice President and one year as President to the Purdue Art Jewelry And Metal Association. In May 2004, I was awarded a scholarship from Delta Phi Delta Art Association to become a Precious Metal Clay Certified Artisan. Formerly employed by the Northern Indiana Arts Association, I am now working as an art and literacy teacher (preschool - 8th grade) and pursuing my personal artwork.
